Scarborough Gossip

Scarborough currently has three Theatres, The Futurist, The Spa and Stephen Joseph. Only the Futurist has the capacity to seat approx 2,148 and the venue is the 12th biggest theatre in the country and the fifth biggest outside London. If the Futurist was developed the bigger stars with a large following would easily fill the Theare.  Without the Futurist, Scarborough just wouldn't attract any big names willing to come to the town. This will also impact on the seafront and town trade where patrons to the Theatre often frequent the local cafes, restaurants and pubs before a show. Hats off to Barry Stead for having faith in the Theatre when the council don't seem to.

I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue 

 Did you know that The Bachelors recorded their Irish album 'Under and Over' in the Dressing rooms? Apparently, Decca wanted an Irish album from them, but were too busy to travel to London, so the studio came to them. They sat in different dressing rooms for 'separation' and were fitted with earphones to record the backing tracks. They put the voices on in another dressing room. One track was even performed live in the pub next to the Theatre.
